What if we considered images as living organisms? Ongoing research blending artificial intelligence and experimental photographic processes conducted at Central Saint Martins (London, UK) and at the Wonder Cabinet (Bethlehem, Palestine).

This is the era of photography as a “hyperobject” (Timothy Morton).

It has become so vast that it now eludes human control and constitutes its own entity, of an incomprehensible size. As such, we are yeasts that activate the dough of photography to give it a new existence (Hannah Fletcher). What if we considered images as living organisms? The series explores the concepts of morphogenesis, preservation and growth, through the birth of new lifeforms.

I am interested in image making as a cybernetic organism, in which technology and nature blend to imagine new poetic ecosystems. A process in which, instead of trying to capture or control, we seed a fertile soil for unexpected hybrid entities to grow and thrive.

I believe that by reconsidering those image making processes we have the opportunity to imagine alternative realities, fueled by fusion and symbiosis. Visions enabling us to reclaim representations of identity, beauty and growth.

The survival and preservation of existing endangered species such as coral reefs and seaweeds depends among other factors on the recruitment of new generations of individuals. Using my own analog photographs of existing fauna and flora, the works take cyborg seaweeds and humanoids as a starting point for new entities to emerge.
